Clinics and Services

We offer a range of clinics and services including those below. For more information, please visit our Health Review and Assessment Clinic Room.

If you would like to attend any of the below clinics, please visit our Consulting Room.

Diabetic clinic

The practice has a nurse led diabetic clinic for patients. Patients will be invited in for an annual review. If any problems are experienced between clinics, then diabetic patients should contact their own GP or alternatively ask the practice nurse.

Minor surgery clinic

Certain procedures may be possible on the premises. Dr Alier and the health care support worker hold sessions by appointment only. Please ask your GP for advice or more information. Due to Covid 19 some of the procedures are limited for safety reasons.

Travel health advice

If you require travel advice from one of our practice nurses please contact the surgery and book in for a telephone consultation with a practice nurse.

Blood tests

If you require a blood test to monitor a condition please go to our Health Review and Assessment Clinic Room or telephone the surgery. If a hospital consultant or department has requested a blood test and provided you with labels please go to the Phlebotomy Department at the hospital concerned to have your blood taken.

First Contact Practitioners (Physiotherapists)

The surgery holds two clinics a week with First Contact Practitioners (Joanna Surgeon and Mathew Roberts) on a Tuesday and Friday.  The First Contact Practitioners specialise in helping patients who have musculoskeletal issues such as neck, back and joint pain.  They can assess and diagnose musculoskeletal issues and where necessary can arrange referrals for scans andx-rays. They can also arrange pain relief via the GP when required.

To arrange an appointment with one of our First Contact Practitioners please contact the surgery.

Paramedic

The Practice can also offer pre bookable appointments with a paramedic colleague, Ally Harris.  Ally offers appointments for acute conditions and works at the Practice alternate weeks.  One week half a day and one week a day and a half.  Please contact reception for further details or to make an appointment.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Sister Karen Schofield is the surgery’s Advanced Nurse Practitioner and she holds three clinics a week for her advanced practitioner duties.  Karen is able to assess and diagnose patients who are contacting the surgery regarding acute conditions such as chest infections, stomach problems, sore throats etc.  Karen is a full prescriber and can refer patients onto the hospital where appropriate.

Child Health Clinic

Dr Mathew, GP Partner, is the lead for this clinic.  Appointments are arranged directly with the new parents for when baby is 8 weeks old so that the first immunisations can be carried out at the same time as the baby’s 6 to 8 week check and mum’s postnatal check.  Appointments usually last between 45 minutes to an hour.  This arrangement was implemented during the pandemic and proved popular, therefore we have continued to offer this option to patients. However if need be and patient’s prefer, we can also offer separate appointments on request.

If your child is unwell

If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please use our school absence letter, which can be completed when your child is absent from school. This form can also be collected from the surgery.

Non-NHS services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS, and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Passport signing
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association suggested scales, and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
